Horne, b. 1954,  is a Coast Salish Native carver living on Vancouver Island in the providence of British Columbia, Canada. His graphic design skills enable him to have a unique style that stands out among today's contemporary Native Northwest Coast carvings. Francis's boyhood dream was to be a a"Native Carver" and so, at the feet of the Elders, he learned the old ways of carving and design.  In the great longhouses, he heard the songs and saw the dances of his people, he grew to understand the beauties and subtleties of his culture and manifested his experiences through his carvings.
Francis Horne has become an internationally acclaimed artist with pieces in private collections around the world.  He completed a major carving for the Canadian High Commission in Singapore and created a piece owned by former U.S. President, Ronald Reagan.  The Variety Club International commissioned a pole for the Stanley Park Children's Zoo in Vancouver.  The City of Duncan, B.C. is home to five of Francis's poles, one of which is an extremely rare entrance pole. Horne also has work in the collections of Japan, Germany and Switzerland, as well as many pieces installed in various cities in Canada and the U.
