Charles Peterson Signature Flooring is crafted from a grade of wood that does not exist elsewhere in the flooring industry. It was previously only available for the most exquisite musical instruments and most precious creations of artisans.

When a forest is logged, there are three buyer groups buying either veneer logs, saw logs (wood flooring logs) or pallet logs. The veneer industry will pay between three to 20 times the amount that wood floor manufacturers pay for the saw logs. They can do this because they can slice up to 10,000 square feet of very thin veneer from an average log. These logs are bought by veneer mills and cut into paper thin pieces to be used in the most coveted wood products such as musical instruments and fine furniture for the most environmentally sound use of such a rare natural resource.

We saw our rift sawn hardwood flooring with a grain angle as high as 74 degrees depending on the log. The higher grain angle creates a more dimensional stable floor and produces a tighter grain.
Color and grain matching starts at the forest and continues through the final inspection prior to shipping.
Cutting true defect-free radially sawn plank flooring that contains no sapwood or pith requires the largest most perfect logs available. From these logs we only use the ones in the midrange of the color spectrum for each species.
